I have a debt collector that has recently started calling but I have never received anything in the mail from them telling me what they are calling about. What can I do?

As far as the debt collectors, if you answer when they call tell them they have 5 days to send you a dunning letter and just listen to what they say after that. Do not verify anything with them do not have a conversation with them. Just hang up and see what happens. If they call again and send nothing in writing, ask for their address and send a debt validation letter.

I Google'd that number it and it looks like it's a telemarketer and not a CA. It wasn't clear exactly who they were, though.
I can top that, though. I received 15 calls from 908-603-0385 today.

I also Google'd that number and it isn't clear who they are, although, it appears they are telemarketers too. I tried calling the number back and it either rings and rings, with no answer, or goes to some message say (some extension number) isn't available and hangs up on me.
I haven't been home all day or I would have answered it and blasted them after about the 5th call!

If I were you, I would send that CA and DV letter right now. Don't wait for that dunning letter that may, or may not, ever come. Be sure to mention in the DV letter you haven't received the first written correspondence from them yet; however, they started calling you on (whatever date it was).
Mention the fact they are required by law to send that letter within 5 days of the initial telephone contact.
