I need some help with payday loans. I have been reading the posts and feel so relieved that I am not alone with this problem. This disastrous situation has been going on for far too long and I can't meet these payments anymore and pay my other bills at the same time.

I had no idea that some of these payday loan lenders were not legal. I currently have 11 payday loans. I'm embarrassed to say that I have taken out more payday loans to pay the others and I don't know how to get out of this mess.

This is very difficult to put all of this in writing but I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Should I close my checking account immediately? I just don't know what to do.

All of my lenders are internet lenders. I live in Pennsylvania. The lenders I owe and the principal owed are listed here:

DMA - 1,000 - I've paid 200 for the fee only. I previously had a loan with this company for over a year and paid 250 every payday without bringing down the principal until I paid it off. Then I opened up another loan (the current one).

WebPayday - 750 - I have made 12 payments and now owe 200. I've been paying the finance fee plus 50 toward the principal for the last 7 payments.

US Fast Cash - 650 - I still owe 500 on the principal. I pay 165 interest plus 50 toward the principal for the last 2 payments.

United Cash - 650 - same as for US Fast Cash.

Loan Shop Online - 500 - I pay 150 every payday (2x's mo.). No principal payment.

Payday-Loan-Yes - 400 - I've paid 120 interest twice.

Payday One - 500 Still owe 350 - paid fees for 8 paydays - 150 ea.

Integrity - 500 - still owe 400 - I've made 7 payments of 150 plus only 100 on the principal.

BiggestCash - 400 - made payments of 120 3 times...paid 50 on principal.

Eastside Lenders - 300 - made 4 payments of 90 interest and only 50 on principal.

Cashnet USA - 900 - I paid about 600 total so far but most of this was interest. I think I still owe around 700.

That's all of it. Thanks. Dianne

US Fast Cash, United Cash, Payday-Loan-Yes, and Integrity are illegal. How much have you paid them including fees?

Cashnet USA and PayDay One are legal. You will need to make arrangments with them.

For the illegal ones you only owe the amout you borrowed.

You can go here and learn more about dealing with illegal lenders.

I am sure more members will be along to help and advice. PA laws can be sort of tricky.

Ask as many questions as you need to.

Pennsylvania allows an Internet based payday loan company to lend legally as long as it is licensed in any US State. They would need to follow the laws of the state they are licensed out of, not the state the consumer is in. You will need to find out what state your legal lenders are in and follow the laws of that state.

Thanks for your help. Dianne

I've fallen into the PDL trap and I'm in need of direction in how I can handle this. All the loans are internet based. I reside in the state of MD and from reading the forums I noticed its illegal in MD. Can someone please help me by looking up these companies I'm trapped in and advise what I need to do to get them to stop drafting my bank account and what will happen when the collection calls start and I how I can go about handling them? Also advise if any of the following companies are even licensed to do business in the state of MD. Thank you!

1. Cash Net USA principle $ 800, paid to date $850
2. Upfront Payday principle $300, $0 paid
3. Cash Transfer Center principle $300, $0 paid
4. SGQ Processing LTD principle $300, $0 paid
5. Intergrity Advance $400 principle, paid to date $600
6. Flash Loans principle $400, paid to date $600
7. United Cash Loans principle $400, paid to date $650
8. VIP Loans, principle $300, paid to date $225
9. 500 Fast Cash $300 principle, paid to date $180
10. Paycheck today principle $300, paid to date $550

Again and info is greatly appreciated... Erik

Erik all payloans are prohinited in MD so all of your loans are illegal. If you have paid the principle amount borrowed you are done with paying them.

1. Cash Net USA principle $ 800, paid to date $850, Done.
2. Upfront Payday principle $300, $0 paid. Owe $300
3. Cash Transfer Center principle $300, $0 paid. Owe $300
4. SGQ Processing LTD principle $300, $0 paid. Owe $300
5. Intergrity Advance $400 principle, paid to date $600. Done.
6. Flash Loans principle $400, paid to date $600. Done.
7. United Cash Loans principle $400, paid to date $650. Done.
8. VIP Loans, principle $300, paid to date $225.Owe $75
9. 500 Fast Cash $300 principle, paid to date $180. Owe $120
10. Paycheck today principle $300, paid to date $550. Done.

You will need to close your checking account to stop them from debiting more money. You will also need to contact each one of them. You can tell the ones you have paid that you are done paying them and the ones you still owe that you are willing to pay the principle owed but via money order or prepaid Visa.

Make sure your account is closed BEFORE contacting them.

You can go to this link.

There it will tell you how to deal with illegal lenders. Please refer back here with more questions if you need more help and support.

Diane, here is the break down so far.

DMA - 1,000 - I've paid 200 for the fee only. I previously had a loan with this company for over a year and paid 250 every payday without bringing down the principal until I paid it off. Then I opened up another loan (the current one). DMA is aka VIP, they are illegal. How much have you paid in total including fees? If you have paid $1000, then you are done owing them.

WebPayday - 750 - I have made 12 payments and now owe 200. I've been paying the finance fee plus 50 toward the principal for the last 7 payments. How much have you paid them in total? If $750 then you are done owing this illegal lender.

US Fast Cash - US Fast Cash -760 (for a principal of 650). You are done owing this illegal lender.

United Cash - United ??? 760 (for a principal of 650). You are done owing this illegal lender.

Loan Shop Online - 500 - I pay 150 every payday (2x's mo.). No principal payment. How much have you paid them in total? If $500 then you are done owing this illegal lender.

Payday-Loan-Yes - Payday Loan Yes - 220 (for a principal of 400). You only owe them $180.

Payday One - Legal. Contact them and make arrangements.

Integrity - Integrity ??? 1150 (for a principal of 500) You are done owing this illegal lender.

BiggestCash - 400 - made payments of 120 3 times...paid 50 on principal. Not sure about these guys yet, still looking.

Eastside Lenders - 300 - made 4 payments of 90 interest and only 50 on principal. Illegal. Paid $410? You are done owing this illegal lender.

Cashnet USA - Legal. Contact them and make arrangements.

You will need to close your checking accout. As I stated before go to the sticky about illegal loans and read on how to deal with them.

Return here with any questions you have and we will help and give advice.

My husband says that debt collectors are not allowed to contact employers by PA law and that they cannot garnish wages either in PA (unless it is for taxes). Is this true?

Thanks again for all of your help.

Dianne

He is correct about the garnishment your wages. Only in certain circumstances can you be garnished.

Examples are taxes, child support, federally guaranteed student loans, and court-ordered fines or restitution for a crime.

There is a loophole I believe that states they can garnish bank accounts but that is not likley. It still takes a court order to do so.

I am not sure about the no collecters calling your employment.

Keepers,

Thank you for your reply. I was reading some of these forums about CashNet USA and I read that this company is legal to do business in MD by conducting business under CSO. Is this true and if so does that mean I have to still pay the principle of the loan eventhough I have paid more than the principle in fees alone? I called the Commerce office today and they adv me that they do not have a license to do business in MD and to file a complaint against them, so I'm a little confused after reading about the CSO with CashNet USA.

Erik, CSOs are legal. They do not fall under the same laws as payday loans.

They are on the Maryland data base under legal installment loan lenders.

CASHNET CSO OF MARYLAND, LLC
Trade Name: CASHNETUSA
Business Type: Limited Liability Company (LLC)
Street Address: 200 W. JACKSON BLVD
SUITE 2400
CHICAGO, IL 60606-0000

License Information
Category: Installment Loan
License Number: 2039
Expiration Date: 09 - 24 - 2009
Original Issue Date: 09 - 24 - 2007
Status: ACTIVE

Since Cashnet USA is legal you will need to make payment arrangments with them.

Companies like this one are tricky as they mask as a PDL but they are in fact an installment loan. I would look over your contract and see what it says.

Thank you, Paul. You guys have been extremely helpful. I am going to my bank this morning to see about closing my account. I am nervous about this because I don't know what to do about my direct deposit. I'm hoping they can help me to transfer to a new account. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again.

Dianne

Erik,

I also have a loan with Cashnet (in PA). I have also paid them a lot of money. I still owe them on the principal, however. I guess I will try to work out a payment arrangement with them.

The part I don't understand is what the legal interest rate is here in PA. I'm wondering if they can still charge me their ridiculous rates? Anybody have an answer on this?

Thanks.

Dianne

Hi Everyone,

Well, I closed my account today. Wachovia was very helpful but they didn't seem to know if my account would be charged overdraft fees if the ACH debits come in even though my account is closed. I actually informed them in writing that I was revoking authorization three days ago so that I would be in compliance with the Electronic Transfer law. I guess I will wait and see what happens now.

I also sent emails to all of the PDL's informing them of revoking the ACH authorization and that my account was closed.

So, I think I have done everything I need to do for now. I guess I will just wait to hear from them. It sort of feels like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop to see what kind of nasty stuff they will be sending my way.

If anyone can think of anything else I should do, please let me know. You guys have been very helpful...I don't know what I would have done without your help! Thanks again.

Dianne

Yes, unless the loan was taken out after 2/1/2009.

VIP is a bottom feeder and they rollover the loan with a fee forever and nothing goes the balance of the loan.

How much did you borrow? How much have you paid back including all fees? How long have you had the loan?

VIP still has to go by the law of the state they are licensed in and they may not be doing that.

I was caught in the indian scam going around with payday loans. when calling to see who i owed i found out i still owe "ace cash services" US fast cash and QXL Online. I called Ace and they were very rude to me saying i can get in to lots of trouble and QXL is still taking funds out of my account and refuse to work with me. Is it illegal to close out checking account and can Ace Cash Services seriously have me arrested for owing this debt

no they can't.no "tribal loan"can do anything but invoke a wage assignment.that is taken care of when you give a WAGE ASSIGNMENT REVOCATION letter to your HR or payroll person.btw since no "tribal loan"is legal you only owe the principle anything in fees debited gets deducted from that.try to remember how much was borrowed from each, and how much was debited by each in fees.then you will know how much if anything you really owe.
