Their BBB reports reflects an "A" rating. I checked them out after being contacted for a debt settlement program. I spoke with a guy named Tim who was very informative and gave me all the pros and cons regarding debt settlement. I saw other posts here about them when I Googled them and I thought I would just put me 2 cents in. I have talked to other companies in the past who tried to hard sell me into signing up but I think if I move forward with this option I will probably go with Lifeguard.

That's good news. I've heard good things about them. I think it is also important that everyone realize the truth about the BBB. They are not a national company with the same systematic rules. They are actually franchise based with different rules from state to state. In the state of Maryland the BBB can give a debt settlement company who has been in business for 3 years without one single complaint a 'F' rating simply b/c they disagree with the industry.

I encourage everyone to check into the BBB for complaints. See how many there were and how/if the company resolved the issue. PLEASE do not base it simply on the BBB's rating.

The debt settlement process is quite complicated, Yet individuals from this company are trained to sell this product and enroll the client all in the same day. As a debt settlement agent and trainer i find it ridiculous that there are all these BOGUS posts and replies such as " They helped me and now i am debt free" or "I signed papers and the call stopped". Come on! are you serious? Does this really sound like a consumer.

Although i am in the debt settlement industry i will not tell you i am the only company out there. THIS IS WHAT I SUGGEST YOU CONSIDER BEFORE YOU DECIDE ON DEBT SETTLEMENT COMPANY:

1. TASC (tascsite.com) is the only honorable organization within the debt settlement industry. DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE!. ANY COMPANY WHO IS A MEMBER OF THIS ORGANIZATION ARE UNDER A STRICT CODE OF CONDUCT THAT THE ORGANIZATION PROCLAIMS. There are about 100 companies that you can research on this site. ALL OTHER COMPANIES CAN BECOME MEMBERS, HOWEVER THEY CHOOSE NOT TO REGISTER BECAUSE THEY VIOLATE GUIDELINES THAT TASC PROCLAIMS JUST FOR THE PURPOSE OF BEING MORE PROFITABLE.

2. NO COMPANY HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE SURE CREDITORS STOP CALLING YOU IMMEDIATELY, IT USUALLY TAKES 90 DAY 120 DAYS AFTER NOT PAYING CREDITORS. ANYONE THAT TELL YOU OTHERWISE....PLEASE TAKE THAT AS A SIGN OF "ILLEGITIMATE COMPANY".

3. DOES THE COMPANY GIVE FULL DISCLOSURE OF FEES?
NEVER ACCEPT ONE OF THESE ANSWERS:
- "ALL FEES ARE INCLUDED IN THE MONTHLY PAYMENT?
- " FEES ARE 15 % " (15 % OF WHAT)

I HOPE THIS CAN BE HELPFUL TO SOME CONSUMERS OUT THERE.

These guys are bad news. . I am shocked that Bill McCullough is asleep on this one. You can call up the Florida Attorney General Consumer Assistance number to find out how many complaints they have. I think that they have reached the magic number of 75 and now a file is open with economic crimes.

There is a guy in nj who owns a branch of lifeguard financial, craig s,and has a partner brian lee. Both of these guys have trained their employees to lie and steal from consumers. This company is the biggest scam ever. When you ask any one of the loan officers how they sell each deal, they will tell you themselves that they are not confident in the company, and they feel they may be stealing from innocent consumers but they have to make a living.

It's a Scam!! They pressure you to sign up,then take your first payment.
They just opened an office in Newport Beach,Ca. because the heat was too much back east.
Do your research. Stay away!

ALL OF THESE COMPANIES ARE A JOKE BETTER YET A JOKE ON YOU. ALL tHE COMPANIES ABOVE ARE ALL NOW ASSOCIATED. IN ADDITION THEY HAVE NO LOVE FOR YOU AT ALL IF YOU HAVE MORE THEN 50K IN DEBT YOU MIGHT GET SOME SERVICES. IF YOU DO NOT YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. SO FORGET ABOUT GOING WITH ANY OF THEM ASK HOW MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY FINISHED THE PROGRSM ZERO

I am just now getting away from this company. Have been with them since June 09 and they have taken over 2000.00 dollars from me and have reached NO settlements for me. And have ingnored one of the creditors I put with them altogether. Now that creditor is ready to use legal action against me and Lifeguard won't help me at all. They told me that they settled with this creditor now they told me it was a type o and there is nothing they can do. Oh yeah and they are only showing me to have 800.00 in my account. Where did all the other money go. My advice stay away from them. their bbb rating is F an I can understand why. I did check the BBB before getting involved with them and it was an A then.

Yes we are still in business, I'm a current employee of the company, as an arbitrator I have negotiated and settled lots of consumer debt. I can assure each of you on this board that the company and its employees work hard to get the lowest settlement amounts for our clients. In fact, there have been times when clients have received refunds at the end of the program due to the fact that we were able to settle below 40% of the consumer???s total debt.

They have collected almost $8,000. $1,641.48 in ??orgination fees and $833.00 in maintance fees for a total of over $2,000. Like others have given the name and phone numbers of collection agents to talk and settle with them, but nothing ever happened. I got so tired of being called at home, work and my cell phone that I made the settlement my self. Thus far they have only settled with one of the 6 credit cards that I placed in their hands.

I strongly suggest you to STAY AWAY from this company. I feel like my money is stolen with this way. I made 23/24 payments in two years. I had just 1 more payment to finish the program. But I kept getting judgments since these liars did not negotiate with the creditors:(. I myself negotiated with many creditors without having any problems. They did NOT also represent me with any way. They did not suggest me anything during the court-related issues except some very basic things.:(

After I got a default judgment, I tried to contact them using the phone numbers given in my contract. But I could not reach them:confused:. The phone number was being used by another company now. And the guy told me "LifeGuard does not exist anymore". Can you believe in this? As a result of their negligence, I am left with at least 4 court decisions against me :( even though I had enough money in my account for some settlements.

Even if they let me know that they are not in business (or their contact# has changed) I could take care of the negotiations myself. They did not even show the courtesy to inform me about this. DON'T FORGET THAT these judgments will stay in your credit history for so long which will affect you very badly. It is said that you may even have difficulties when you look for a new job. Check the Internet.

I have been sending money to them for two years, but they probably contacted me for just several times. It is really very difficult to reach them. I can say they almost never return your call.

Another problem: One time, I made two payments in a month so that they negotiate with a creditor who sued me. But they did not negotiate with them. I got a judgment against me at the court. The worse thing is that they ignored my EXTRA payment for that month and they told me that it would be count as just one payment.

Another problem: It also took weeks for me to convince them that my first payment was made in May. They insisted that the payment was done in June. Do you see it? It was just pain for me to communicate with them. When you call them they just forward your calls to each other until you give up! If you, for example, fax them your bank statement to prove your case, they will not respond to you for soooo long.

If I remember this correctly THEY WILL TAKE YOUR FIRST FIVE OR SO PAYMENTS without doing anything. In my case, I believe they took about $5000 (I need to check this with the contract for exact amount).

I am speaking as a person who was very patient during the program with good intentions but disappointed. I wanted to give you details as much as possible so that you see the complete picture.

Some of the creditors had sent me really very good offers during the process. If I was making the decision I would definitely accept them. But now, one of these creditors had judgment against me. What am I gonna do with these judgments in my background now? Put yourself into my position and think twice. You can even negotiate yourself with the first five or so payments without waiting for these liars. In my case, I could probably negotiate with all the creditors easily with the money I sent to these people!

I lost over $8,000 because they took their fees upfront, and none of my bills were paid!!
You'll come across so many of them on-line, and not all of them are legitimate. That's one good reason why we prefer doing a research on-line before we get enrolled with them. The real good ones will only charge you after they negotiate and settle with your creditors. Their fees are actually calculated upon the amount of debt that they save for you after a successful negotiation. This community offers a list of successful negotiators that you may wish to go through - http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/ranking-chart/
