Credit counseling will not affect your credit. It is what follows. Settlement will effect your credit adversely. Consolidation will a little but not for long. There is a way to do it yourself by paying the smaller debt off and using the money toward the next largest and so on. It takes a while and reqires discipline but it will work in most cases.
