Brachfeld Associates called. Do they have to send letter?

I just received a call from Brachfeld Associates. They did not leave a message. In looking them up it seems they must be working with LVNV/Resurgent. I have one collection account they own that used to be a Sears Card.
They seem to represent themselves as a law firm but it sounds like they are not from what I have read so far.
Anyway, my question is, now that they have called me (as shown by my caller ID), do they have to follow up with a letter indicating I have 30 days for the DV?
Any other info on Brachfeld Associates would be appreciated as well.
