Hi jonell51,
If you close your account and open up a new one in the same bank, same branch, quite a few banks will just send ACH debits like that straight to the new one. It's probably best to open your new account at a completely different bank.
The other way that could happen is if you apply for another payday loan. Many of these PDLs operate under a series of DBAs.
And lastly, a stop payment won't really stop a PDL; merely slow them down. Stop payments are processed by total debit, all the PDL has to do is change their debit amount by $1, and bam! Your account is hit. If that doesn't work, they try another way - like an electronic check.

And good luck disputing with your bank. I've heard so many stories of banks completely ignoring their less than wealthy clients.
Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

If you disputed the charge and they were aware of this prior to the transaction going thru, I don't know why they just didn't reverse the transaction. Keep up with what they are doing, meaning the bank, and don't let up on them. If you do not receive satisfaction from one person, work your way up the "chain of command" until you get answers.
As was stated, they will try to send a "paper check" thru. I had that done to me. Just keep an eye on things and I would open an account with a different bank.

i took a loan out with them in may,2009.in june they were to take 195.00 to pay the loan off.instead they have been taking out 45.00 to keep the loan open,in which they are not to do.they ignore all emails, and all phone calls.today a customer service gave me a number which turn out to be a fax number.i file a complaint with the ftc and attorney general of nebraska about them/because what they are doing are charging hidden fees/the 45.00=$135.00 to keep the loan open.when they are not to be doing.this loan was to be paid in full in june.i called my bank.and she said i have to wait till september to put a stop hold on them, because i dont have the fund to pay the bank for the hold /stop payment for them.i dont know what to do to put an end of them with their hands in my bank account.any one know what legal action i can take if they take $195.00 in september.in LL IF THEY DO I WILL HAVE PAID them a total of $350.00 instead of $195.00
when you fill out for a payday loan you have to let them know in
when you fill out for a payday loan you have to let them know in advance whether or not you want them to take it out in full otherwise they will take it out in payments...it's not a scam all you have to do is read the fine print in the application you signed is a legal document so it's not too much that you can do to stop the transactions from being debited out of your account

Aside from the information you provided, would you agree that when a payday lender isn't licensed, charges illegal interest rates, and harasses their customers isn't a scam either?
