I may have applied for some payday loans from my work computer. I don't remember. Is that bad since these united legal guys keep calling??

Paul was posting here earlier so I'm sure he'll respond. But I can tell you don't worry. They all claim it's some sort of fraud if you use a work computer. That's b.s. It's very difficult to trace an IP address so closely that you know what computer was used. They're lucky if it gets the right town. (Hell, my work computer is here in the U.S., but the IP address says Canada because that's how the phone company we use routed it!) Most people do apply for ipdl's from work and many will put their work e-mails in the applications, so collectors use this purely as a scare tactic.

in this case.not really since they are a scam in INDIA.also with the illegals it wouldn't matter either.i guess i was thinking out loud about that.let me put it this way.they have as much leverage with that as charging you with check fraud.i don't see how they can find out.freaky is right.i wouldn't worry about it.

Ask them how it's fraud to use your work computer? The PDL's more or less are trying to scare you into thinking you're going to get fired for using the work computer for personal matters. Your employer may frown on you playing around on the internet on their time, but that's between you and your employer. Besides, as freaky said, unless your company is huge it is going to be hard to actually trace an IP address. If they do a trace, they will end up with the ISP (AT&T, Comcast, Etc) who actually owns that IP. Those ISP's won't release who used that IP without a court order.
