I am 16000 in debt to
AMEX. I've made every
attempt to pay this off. I used my credit card to Pay the IRS. Thought I would be able to pay it off but my income took a plunge do to the econmy and I have not been able to caught up. I was making pymts to them at a reduced amount but they have now asked an Attorney to bring judgement against me. I owe many and want to avoid filing bankruptcy.
I work in a profesion if
I file I would never be able to get another job.
I am a Self employed contractor. Help!
They offered me a 11000 settlement. I
like their offer but the only way I can pay it is in installments. They
are planning to take me to court.

Hi brendahoskins7330,

Welcome to the Community.

Prepare your defense to the court. Based on your assets, the creditor is confident in winning against you, that is why they are ignoring your previous payment arrangement. You may win the judgment on the terms you have already worked out with the creditor.

It probably would've been better to work out a payment arrangement with the IRS rather than pay them with a credit card, but that's water under the bridge.

I would continue to make the already arranged payment to them, I hope you have not stopped.
