I hope someone can answer this for me. I haven't called Amex yet but will tomorrow. Here is the situation:

In August, I put my Amex on a DMP. I made a few payments to Amex via the DMP until we got the proposal from Amex. I did not like the proposal so cancelled my DMP. Since that time, I made payments on my own (at least the minimum that was on my statement).

In January, I got a letter from Amex saying I had successfully completed the enrollment period (4 months) to benefit from a lower interest rate.

Huh? I cancelled my DMP and did not make the required payments to Amex at the amount their proposal said. So why am I getting this letter? I figured someone got their wires crossed.

Today I got my next bill and another letter from Amex. This letter said that since I had not made my payment at the amount they specified, I was no longer enrolled in the DMP and my account was being sent to collections.

I am not enrolled in a DMP and have been making consistent payments of at least the minimum amount. Can they really send me to collections???

I am very confused.
