is there any way to fight the late payments posted in the credit reports

Were they late (30 or more days past-due)?

If they are reporting inaccurate information, it is against the law. If you weren't late, then they shouldn't be reporting as such and you could dispute on those grounds. At that point, they should update your credit report and remove the lates.

However, if they are indeed reporting accurately, you don't have any "legal" means to remove the lates. You can dispute your credit report, but if the creditor verifies the information is accurate, then it will stay.
