I lost my job back in September 2008. My husband and I are having a hard time keeping the payments up to date. When President Obama Stimulus package bill was passed I thought there was hope for us. Citi sent me an Urgent package from UPS, stating to call them and they will lower my monthly payments. I was excited. To my surprise they wanted another payment before they would even look at lowering anything for us. I thought that was pretty strange. I'm already behind and having a hard time and they are still trying to get as much as they can out of me.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I can not refinance because credit score drop due to late payments on bills.
Any advice will do!

Since you have already fallen behind your mortgage payments, I think that you should make another payment to lower your interest charges on mortgage. As they have already sent you the agreement in writing, you have proof that they have agreed to lower the interest rate and so you need not worry. But if you continue to default on your payments because of the high interest rates, there may be foreclosure on your property.
