i went thru the same situation in 1999 with a balance of about $3800 when i left the army and divorced at same time. i am 100% service connected disabled, also receive social security disability. when my ssdi was approved aafes took a chunk of the back pay and started a monthly garnishment of around $140. Today, 8 years later, the balance is $2200, aafes has taken almost $20k for this $3800 debt so far. they will take your tax returns every year also. they add so many fees and charges, its all legal, there is nothing you can do. i suggest you work out whatever you can with them.

try the JAG office. If she used your credit card without permission then that is illegal. She should be responsible for the debt. If there is anyway you can prove it was her, like statements saying things that were purchased in the states while you had orders and were overseas, then you can sue her or maybe aafes for allowing her to use it.
