Mothers CC debt
Date: Sat, 02/28/2009 - 09:40
My mother has about 16K on a Sears Mastercard. I have been her caregiver for the last 9 years. She has had me purchase items for her over the years and I signed my name. This was never questioned by anyone and I assumed since I had power of attorney I was acting for her. She is now going into a nursing home and only has social security benefits that will now go to the home. Am I liable, or should I contact the card company and try to get them to stop interest and take a fixed amount each month to get it paid. I don't think I am liable for the debt but just need advice.
