Where to move when saddled w/ unsecured debts in default
Date: Sun, 03/01/2009 - 07:56
We are losing our home to foreclosure in about 2 months and want to move out of Texas for a new start. We run our own business, which is incorporated, and want to protect our tools of the trade (computers, expensive video production software, and a growing library of films we create to sell). We want to be sure that the state we choose will protect our business assets until we can work our way out of $225K unsecured debt (from the upstart of our company and marketing.)
We are considering Greensboro, NC and Denver, CO. Any advice on those 2 options or any others?
Thanks so much!

I concur with sunnymay! An attorney who is familiar with shelter laws would be best. OJ Simpson moved to Florida for a reason to the dismay of the Goldbergs.
