Has anyone settled with Advanta recently?

We settled w/ Advanta in May08 for 20% with a lump sum payment. Our last payment on the account was 9/07 so it was 8 mos. delinquent. Their first settlement offer was sent to us 6 mos. later in March08 for 40% of the balance over 6 consecutive months. The monthly payment was too high for us to meet so we just kept waiting while we tried to gather the funds. That worked to our advantage but it was stressful!

If you need help negotiating, we had a wonderful advisor whose fees were very fair -- Tom Bates. You can find him online at absolutedebtsolutions. com . He was very available by phone for all sorts of questions, took over the communications with debtors as they arose, etc. Has lots of years experience on both sides of debt settlement and knows the ropes with creditors and collectors. He'll take good care of anyone who needs help with this.

A bit curious.

Advanta is very aggressive in their dealings. This is what i heard about them.

Did I not see this on the news?

Advanta is not bankrupt. They are close to it, but they have lots of cash.
