I have recently enrolled in a debt management plan, dmp. All of my creditors have accepted except for BOA. I cannot make the minimum payment and am thinking of trying to settle with them. Will the fact that I am current with my other creditor and that they are on a dmp affect my chances of getting a settlement with BOA? I owe 17K at 29% interest to them. Can this be done on my own or should I use a company to help settle this debt? Thank you for any help.

i negotiated myself...35% on 23500.....don't pay to do this yourself

mobile is right on...they aren't going to offer anything if they see you making payments to anyone....non-secured that is...

I don't know what to do then. I can't make a payment to them. What is going to happen to me if I don't? There has to be something that can be done. If I don't pay, and they don't offer me a settlement what will they do? If it goes to collections, will I be able to work something out with them. I'm feeling hopeless about this whole situation. I need advice please.

call and ask to settle/30% of total should be the settlement. They will you a 1099 for the balance and you will pay taxes on the amount as income for 2011.
If they refuse to settle and put you off----write the BBB w/statement of refusal of settlement (try to get names)
