I am 26 year old single male with a credit card debt of 25k. And around 18k is on APR 29.99% which my bank have recently increased. I have full time job earning 4k after taxes.i tried working with my bank but i am unsuccessful in bringing down the APR. Can this debt settlement/consolidation which should i go for and how can this be useful.

citit bank (grrrr) well you could do one of two things. you could try to negotiate with them and see if they will lower your % or get you into a hardship program. This i think may be your best option

Im hearing alot of people getting those where you may not have to pay for X amount of months, or they will give you interest free for a year, or something to that nature till you get on your feet.

consolidation programs and counseling usually need more than one debt but im not sure about that but they may be able to wave the % and fees and spread it out over a long period of time. This wont hurt your credit but im not sure if this is a wise choice for just one account.

or you could stop paying for a few months and save save save to make a settlement deal. There is a lot involved here, and alot to know so if you decide to go this route stick around here and read up on settlement so that you know how to go about it and what to expect.
