I got a call from 1-866-964-8194, I don't normally answer calls from unknown numbers so I didn't pick it up. The lady left a message saying that she was calling from the Office of Julie Rice and that there was an urgent matter in her office that I or my written attorney needed to call her back immediately and that if I couldn't call that my attorney should. The number is 1-866-964-8194 dept 712. I was wondering if anyone knows what I should do, I am 37 weeks pregnant and afraid to call back because it might put me in labor, I had some trouble last year with US National bank and I lost alot of money over 5000 to be exact. I can't afford to keep handing out money to people I don't know because they threaten me. I did have some payday loans from 2004 but I thought that is what some of the 5000 dollars went to... can anyone help

it will be okay, the firs tthing to do is stay calm and do not panic. it sounds kind of shady to be honest. did this person have a thick accent? maybe someone here also got a call from them.. it does not sound legit as i know some shady companies call and leave the same message for me. it is probably connected to the payday loans somehow, again someone else will probably be here to help you.

thanks, the person sounded american, it wasn't middle eastern or anything, the only thing that I don't understand is that if it is from a payday loan, that was in 2004, why am I only getting a call 5 years later... I need to change my number but will that probably won't do anything. The last time I spoke to people like these I had a panic attack and got physically sick, I can't do that seeing that I am pregnant

i understand.. they freak me out, too :) my guess is maybe a payday loan company sold your information? i have found ever since my payday loan mess, i have been getting tons of calls for all sorts of junk, even though i am on the do not call list. again i am sure someone will be around with my experience with them. if it makes you feel better i googled the number and it seems like some scam to be honest.

Yeah it is kind of weird that when any of them call the call me by my maiden name and they put my married name as my middle name, its weird all of them do that, if I owe a debt I will pay, but it seems I keep handing out money and none of its going to an actual debt, my husband is going to call them, but they normally won't talk to him. I wonder if they throw the attorney stuff in there to get you to call back, I don't know anyone that has an attorney just sitting around everytime they call, I personally can't afford an attorney to be at my beck and call

Saying they are attorneies or have one pracitically standing next to them is an old lie they use a lot.

I would not agree to pay anything without a debt verification which most of these low life CA can't provide.

All they know is the bones of the information. Some do not even know who the original creditor was.

They use intimidation and threats to get people to pay.

I'll post what my husband gets from them, he doesn't want me to call them back on the account of how I get when they call and I give in, and start crying, its pretty pathetic on my part, but as soon as I hear attorney or jail or whatever the case is, I think about my kids and freak out, I appreciate the advice it always makes me feel better

My husband got off the phone with them. They are Oasis Financial Solutions they are working for e payday. I'm not sure what else, they said that if I didn't pay that they would continue with proper court proceedings seeing that the statue of limitations for texas is 6 years. My husband paid them before I had a chance to talk to him, he paid 460. As far as I know that statue of limitations for Texas is 4 years across the board unless it is a judgement. My question is why wait 5 years to call me and tell me that I owe money, If I knew about it I would have paid it. It just still seems fishy to me I am changing my number after I have the baby.... any thoughts

i wish he did not pay them :( i do not know about texas laws but do you remember how much was borrowed and how much was paid? it is likely that you over-paid back than and they just are greedy.
next time please do not panic and pay them right away. they are laws they must follow and i hate to see people get scammed. i hope this post does not offend you, i just hate when these places try to get over on nice people. :(
if anyone calls like this again, i would ask for something in writing first than i would send a debt validation and probably a c & d, also while i am at it.

no it didnt offend me, I knew it when he got off the phone, he felt bad for me and told me it was just money and he didn't want anyone to scare me anymore. He did ask for verification of the debt and they said "Didn't the company give that to you" my husband said no, and she said she would send an email, which she did after he paid, it just said that the debt was paid and the balance was 0. It made no sense to me. I don't remember even getting the loan, this was supposedly in 2004

:( i am so sorry, i feel bad, i have a lot of anxiety problems and sometimes these calls put me over the edge. if i had more money, i would probably pay them off just to get rid of them :(
debt validation is a written request to validate a debt. it is pretty lenghty and requires them to provide you with a lot of info to prove they really own the debt.

I'm so glad I came across this post. I spoke to "Julie Rice" today in regards to a payday loan that I supposedly took out in 2004. The name of the company she was collecting for was not familiar. She sounded quite intimidating and knowledgeable. A number of years ago I received a phone call from this kind of company and they threatened to send the sheriff to my job to arrest me??? I was terrified. I ended up asking my parents for money to pay them and they did so. We were scammed out of $500 on a debt I didn't even owe. I have learned my lesson and I search every company's number and ask for things in writing. Julie???s professionalism today almost made me think about paying the money. This string of posts reminded of how good they really are at swindling people. Thank you for sharing your story! It really helped me make my decision.

Yep, I just rec'd the very same call left on my cel yesterday which i just retrieved today. And by the way, this is a new number then what I had 4yrs ago. Anyways, call within the hour or have my attorney that I've retained call??? Ya right. So I called today, because I received a call like this probably about 3 years ago by a thick accented male, with an indian accent. Back then, I believed I had taken care of everthing I had been deliquent on or had been in insufficient fund mode, it happens. But I payed a lot of money to get out of it. Well about 3 years a go, this gentleman was threatening to have the local police come to my business to serve me with a warrant for my arrest. I asked for documentation because all he was asking for was money, on a couple of payday loans, one of which he mentioned, sonic pay day, I know I had always been current with and had paid off! He said I should have that, he could provide Nothing!! I had to laugh, cuz I work for the police dept and that's simply something they wouldn't do. Heck, if they stop you for a warrant, chances are you still won't be brought in because of certain requirement that have to be met. Jails would be so overcrowded if everyone with an outstanding warrant was brought in! Anyways, i called the Julie Rice offices back, she said this was from e-dollars in 2005, and wanted to give me the opportunity to tell my side of it. I simply said, "2005, well I believe this has been taken care of", and wanted the chance to ask for documenation of all this, but she immediately cut me off and said well then we'll just process this through to file charges against you. I said, "great, you have a nice a day". I'll see it through but don't feel it has any legs to stand on. I'll keep ya posted. :)

They r pretending to be lawyers and they are not. outside of a suing then you need to file an attorey genreral complaint for that state. I filed one the other night for this company. they Is being sued in california right now two. go to this florida attorney generals webaddress or type in file an attorney general complint in florida. I was told that they are already being invistigated for the same tipes of stuff. wehn someone from the bill mccolloms office called me yesterday i was also told that they have two old employeees who are giving them all kinds of dirt on the way they are doing there operations. they all have aliases and the pretend to be lawyers and they threatened to have people arrested. i can't wait til those scumbags get taken down. i am waiting for iton the headline news because they also are goin after them on criminal charges. whooo boy!!!!

Hi Everyone, I also had a similar situation the other day with these same people. They have broken so many laws its not even funny. Just some advice; if you are in Florida or Michigan there is a website called CollectionStoppers.com, they will give you a free comsulation, if they choose to take your case they will take these people to court and there is no fee to you. I am working with them now on this. Good Luck to everyone who is dealing with these people, its ridiculous!
