Anyone have an opinion of Greepath. I have an appointment next Monday.

I was on a debt management program with Greenpath for over a year. They were, and still are, fantastic. A couple of years ago I realized that I needed help with my debt load. I was completely overwhelmed with debt and felt like I was in a sinking ship. In all honesty I chose Greenpath because I read that Suze Orman has a very high opinion of them. Well, I did make some progress with Greenpath but unfortunately when my income was dramatically decreased (cut backs at work) I could not keep up with the payments. I eventually ended up removing all of my credit card accounts with Greenpath, but I still use their services to help me budget all of my other monthly bills. I really don't ever see myself NOT using their services...they have helped me that much. Basically I deposit a certain amount of money into my checking account each month, and Greenpath disperses payments for me. The bills that they pay for me are NEVER late! I have so many bills aside from credit cards that I even have a hard time juggling and budgeting for them.

Now I am working towards settling with my credit card companies. My counselor at Greenpath does not think very highly of this, but regardless she is willing to work with me with all of my other budgeting so that I can save for the settlements. My other option was bankruptcy, so she is willing help me with my decision for an "alternative" to that.

When all of my credit card accounts were in their program, most of the credit card companies reduced the interest and payments drastically. Some eliminated interest all together. Of course you have to NOT use the cards while they are in the program. (I don't think any charges would be approved anyway...my accounts were either closed or temporarily frozen.) With Greenpath the goal is to get you out of debt within 5 years or less, and to also teach you how to budget ALL of your expenses, so that you never get yourself in a mess again. Overall it was quite a learning experience. My cost was about $50 per month, but I know sometimes that fee is lowered.

Hope that info helped! :)
