hello friends,

I was trying to validate a debt with Zenith Acquisition in NY. The first Cert Mail Ret Receipt I sent never produced a response from them. After 30 days I sent another one, on Feb 20, and that one never came back.
I reported it and USPS wrote back that they will note the issue but that is it. What should I do now? Should I send another DV letter same way? or use some other type of traceable mail? Thank you for any advice:)

I send out about 100 certified's per month. Out of these, I usually get about 2 or 3 per month that fall into your same situation -- USPS has a record of accepting (scanning) the envelope at the branch we dropped it off at, but then it never gets delivered.

USPS is not going to find your mail for you. It probably fell behind a machine somewhere. (About a month ago, USPS returned a late notice that my company mailed out back in 1998, it was in a clear plastic bag that basically said "Sorry for the inconvenience, here's your mail back). The most you can do is ask for your money back since they never delivered it.

Go to the US post office web site, AND YOU WILL FIND a window which says "track mail" ( something of that nature. You can enter the CMRR receipt number, and they will tell who when it was delivered, and sometines the name of the individual who signed for it.

I think the website is "usps.com"

I can see the logic in your argument but I think you've painted your strokes

hi--

let me clarify, when you said that the first CMRR didnt receive a response, does that mean that they signed for it, but didnt send you validation? If so, you have already accomplished all that you can at this point. There is no law that requires them to validate the debt at all--they are only required to validate if they intend to keep contacting you trying to collect on that debt. They are well within their rights to stop all contact with you and never validate. When that happens, they usually sell it to another debt collector, or, if they arent the owners of the debt, they return it back to the current creditor that owns it.

If they never signed for any of the CMRR's you sent, then please tell us the address you are sending them to. It could be a wrong address, and we could possibly help you find a good one.

If you owe money to the IRS, will they take your stimulus money to be repaid?
