Hi - worked out a payment agreement with Chase over 5 years 2% int. Got a letter outlining terms and saying "if you will ever be late on a payment, call 24 hrs before and let us know". OK. Called to let them know and got transferred to a "hitman" who threatened me with immediate CA action. I said, "no use threatening, I can't pay it on time this month." I got nowhere with him.

Any ideas on if they would have sent it to CA immediately or if they will still try to work it out? I am still willing just couldn't pay on the day agreed.

Thanks.

how late are we talking?chase can be brutal to deal with nowadays.i would try again.if you get the same treatment i know something that could help.chase accepts payments at there branches.i did this with my CC and it went fine.just let them know when you will either send payment or pay at the branch.if you give them that they should back off.

Well, I let it go to about 6 mos and then worked out the agreement. Gave them access to an account and everything. Made 1 payment as agreed. Thought they were serious when they said it was ok to call if going to be late. When I talked to this super mean guy he said that missing this payment would make me 7 months out and automatic collections. I said, "but I made one payment, doesn't that reset the clock?" and he said no, you have to make 3 for it to "count". ?????

i would try to speak to someone else if you can.as long as your not missing an entire monthly payment they should be okay with it.

Thanks. I recall a few months ago, went through the whole interview to set up a payment program but DIDN'T agree to it. They still sent me a letter a few weeks later that they thought I had agreed and wondering why I hadn't made the payment. So it occurs to me that they give "another chance". It's just getting weird that I'm getting calls from mystery collectors like "Angel & Cabreta" or whatever they are ...
