Actually, in some states and in some circumstances bennies CAN be garnished for consumer debts. There really is a lot of what-ifs-and-whys about it though..I remember having training about it a few years back, and have an insert in my HR manual at work about it! Never seen it actually happen, though.

My suggestion would be is to have your check mailed to you instead of deposited directly into a bank account. Bank accounts can have leins placed against them.
