Sounds like another pile of Buffalo Chips if you ask me. Area code 716 is Buffalo, NY the junk debt capital of the world. Unfortunately, I could not find what I would think their real name is. At this point, next time they call, tell them to send it to you in writing. Then hang up.

thanks for that. Yeah, they are threatening to file criminal charges and whatnot against my wife. my wife does not even think this debt is valid. I called their 866 number and they refuse to give their company name and address to me and he actually said I was an A-hole. I was very upset. All I want to do is send a certified letter requesting validation of debt.

Deffiently doesn't sound like a ligit collection agency. All ligit companies will give you thir name and address and whatnot.

Just remember, that after 5 days they are required by law to send you a dunning letter.

Just start laughing hysterically next time they call. Ask them to tell another joke to you because that's what this is. Likely it's out of statute and beyond reporting period.

They are in violation of the FDCPA big time and face all kinds of punitive damages if their identity is made known so I would not worry about them. Like Nascar says just ask for it in writing and hang up!

I got "Account Auditing Services" When I asked him again, he said the same thing. I'd file a claim with whoever takes consumer complaints in your state and let them know that this company refuses to give you accurate information. I'd also file an FTC complaint. When I tried googling the name/number all I got were recient hits on 800notes that they tried calling a couple people. Looks like they just started this.. as the most recent entry was from Feb 2009.

At least now i have a name that may or may not be correct. lol I called my attorney general's office and they suggested i send them a letter, and when I told the lady that they refused to give me their address she said there is nothing I could do. I will try and file a complaint with ftc.
