I received a voicemail message at work today from 800 380 4574. The woman was EXTREMELY serious, said I'd been named in a civil complaint, gave me a case number and phone number, said I should be prepared to contact my attorney immediately about this urgent matter and - before she hung up - said "Good luck!" I figured it was a "bottom feeder" collection agency but I thought I'd give them a call. The man I talked to said I was indeed named in a civil suit for a PDL, he gave me the name of First East and said that was all the information he was able to give me from the attorneys. I told him that PDL's were illegal in Maryland and I'd never heard of First East. I then told him I was working with our State Financial Comission and Attorney Generals' Office, and if he wanted the phone number, I could give it to him. He got a real attitude and said, I'M not going to call them. When I continued to try to get information from him, he hung up. I could tell what kind of people I was dealing with just from the voicemail alone, but I can see where this type of call would scare the life out of people who didn't know how these places work. (Thank goodness for this site and all of the wonderful people who've helped educate ME about PDL's and their affiliates...)


Seriously - DOES this outfit work on behalf of United Cash Loans? I've been getting the recorded calls from UCL all along, yesterday morning I got a call from an actual human, but it was like pulling teeth to get her to admit she worked with UCL; the minute she said she did, I hung up. Then a few hours later I got the above call about my summons, court date, and blah,blah. I contacted the MD Dept. of Financial Regulation, they said these people were scammers, not to worry about it, they were probably working out of a warehouse that wasn't even in the US. If I ever even THINK about getting another PDL, someone please come over and whack me upside the head with a ballpeen hammer!! :)

Nascar Devil is a redneck? NO! (Kidding). My son loves watching Nascar, but unfortunately is a Jeff Gordan fan (I know, I know). Me, I always loved Rusty Wallace. But anyhoo, your posts always make me smile. Thanks for that.

LOL - holy guacamole, what, no Spam Lite? You are awesome. The best insult I ever got was from some yuppie in a Mercedes who cut me off in traffic and when he saw me (and my tattooed sleeves) yelled "Learn how to drive redneck!"
