Also when people evaluate your credit or figure your credit score, is there a general breakdown of what counts for how much, like a percentage of say utilization, collections, late payments, and inquiries?

Only way it can hurt you if you loose is that it stays on your credit report, otherwise your score doesn't go down(that i have noticed).
Everything counts towards your score. Charge-offs/bankruptices/judgements are the worst. Also using more then I believe 30% of your avaliable credit brings down your score as well.
If your thinking of getting a loan for car/mortgage etc. You can have your score run at myfico dot com to see what your actual score is. This is your true score, and what banks go by.

I have had a dispute backfire on me on an old GECC Mobil tradline that had not been updated in several years. I disputed it and it was verified and showed a more recent DOLA and it was an instant 75 pt drop in my TrueCredit FAKO.

So if you lose the dispute it pretty much just stays the same as if you had done nothing right?
Doesn't the 7 year window start ticking from DOFD, not DOLA? When does the actual 7 years start ticking off...If i'm paying off a collection account shouldn't it disappear 7.5 years from when it defaulted with OC or is it 7.5 years from the final payment with collection? That doesn't seem right...
The 7 years starts when you miss your first payment with the OC
The 7 years starts when you miss your first payment with the OC and never again bring the account current.

so by paying off the CA and completing that plan, does that reset my clock? if it was first reported by OC in 3/2003 and I paid off the CA last payment this past November, which starts the clock?
Paying a CA does not reset the clock. The only date that matter
Paying a CA does not reset the clock. The only date that matters is the DOFD with the OC. A CA cannpt extend that date. Based on your info above if the DOFD is 3/03, then legally it can be reported until 09/10.
