Some back story. Had a debt with Discover Bank. Was unable to pay so they sent it to law firm for collections. Tried to work out settlement but they wanted payment in full. $8K.
I also asked for validation a year ago and nothing was sent.
Just dont want to be suprised with a judgment?
I live in PA. If a judgment is granted could they go after my bank account.
Thank you

Hi PA Debt,
You would be served a summons first and a court date where you can offer up your defense. If you lost, then it would be possible to go after your money - first they will go for wage garnishment.
But you will not be surprised with an automatic judgment, if you did it would mean you were never served and you could get it dismissed for improper service.
Hope this helps,

It doesn't sound like a real summons. Call your county civil court and verify. I believe that the creditor is spoofing you; in that case, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and your State Attorney General's office immediately.
