I've had charge offs before and the creditor didn't do stuff like this, and how legal is it for them to keep doing this.

I would suggest that you pull copies of all 3 of your credit reports each month for the next couple months so you can document that they are doing this. After that I would pull a copy of each report every 3-6 months. You can use this to file countersuit if they ever sue or you can use this as a bargaining chip to settle.

It does not change the Date of First Default which is the trigger for federal reporting time limits. Sounds like they are still doing monthly updates of their tradeline and this is allowed under the FCRA.
