They have just have me served to appear in court. The ammount is for 784.13 and "costs" What should I do? Should I just call North Star, not the Attorneys and pay them or what?

I should rephrase, I didn't think my message would go through. I believe that I do owe some Debt, The original Debt is from Nov 28 2001, and I live in IL. I thought they were out of the SOL for active collections. I received a rude call a year or so ago where they told me I need to pay this and when I refused he said "I will suggest to our attorneys that we go ahead with action on this account" I asked him if that was a threat and he said "that???s not a threat" as if it was to suggest it was something stronger. I sent them a letter, probably not like what is exampled here asking for verification. I waited and they never replied in the correct time. I was dumb and didn't keep my receipt from the post office asking for a signature and registered delivery of message. In the documentation they sent me is a bogus payment made in 2005 and nothing else. In looking through my records I believe that I might owe this money and am willing to pay the debt what I'm looking for is to not have to go to court over this. This is why I ask should I just call the Collector and ask them for arraignments in stead of a legal procedure.

Thanks for the link, its actually what came up when I was searching and how I found this place. I've read the thread but it was not clear really. I am very much like the last poster which would like to settle this out of court and I wanted to know if that was something impossible and what the steps are. Are you telling me I should put my story in with the other thread?
