I have defaulted on a few PDL's. 1 sold my debt to a collections agency and the CA told me that this is affecting my credit report. The lender was illegal in the first place and I paid way to much in the finance/roll overs that I am not giving a dime to this agency.

I worry that this little 600 will affect my credit score. Do I have grounds to dispute it if it is on there?

Yes. You do have grounds to dispute it. You need to tell the collection agency that they are trying to collect on an illegal debt. Since it is illegal you are only obligated to payback the principal amount. Who is the collection agency? Have you received anything in writing from them yet?

I would send them a dv letter first. They cannot continue to contact you until they have validated the debt.

There is a form letter on here that you can use to dispute it with your credit report. Are you for sure that it's on your credit report yet? I just had an old one go to a collection agency and it turns out its from an illegal company as well. I haven't received anything in the mail yet. They've only tried contacting me once by phone. I did speak with them and told them to not call me again.

But the answer to your questions is yes, you do have grounds to dispute it.

I hope this helps.
