Have you tried contacting AmEx to see if they will combine all three accounts? I would assume that these cards are "temporarily" with the collection agencies as they have not hit the 180 past due mark. What are the balances of each of the accounts?

You're correct -they are just temporarily with the CA's. I owe about 30k in total. Do you think Amex might give me a settlement and let me pay over 5-6 mos? Thanks for your help.

I have NCO as well 4 amex cards total balance of slightly above 50k I was able to negotiate settlement 25% each card... tell them you have other creditors and limited funds, you have to have all of them low so you can afford to settle and pay all of them other wise you will pay no one and file for BK, if they tell you they cannot get this low tell them you cannot pay. They will call back.
also try to get one low settlement which then you can use in negotiation with others, I was sending copy of one of them to others and by doing this could get down they offer
Good Luck

I do think AmEx will settle with you but pretty much all of the big creditors are now only allowing 90 days to pay off the settlment amount. (I was told it has something to do with following government guidelines.) I think you have a pretty good chance of getting a 40% or maybe a 35% settlement. You may have to wait it out until you are really close to the 180 days past due, which can be nerve racking. Try to establish a decent relationship with one particular rep. Make sure they believe that your financial situation is not going to get any better in the near future. They have to believe that you could very well potentially walk away from the debt. I would start by offering $8000...they will probably counter but hopefully not by too much more.
Good luck!
