Hi! Got a letter today from:

Law offices of Mitchell N. KAY P.C.
new york, NY

they're trying to collect from a FIGI's INC.
for 102.86.

Never heard of FIGI's. anyone know who they are? This just pops up today---never heard from OC or CA before, just this today from ??lawyer??.

I just got done writing validation request and its going out in tomorrows mail, certified-return request.

thanks, shirley

FIGI is a mail order company for cheeses, saugages and such. They sell alot of "gift" items. I get catalogues from them regularly, but I have never ordered. the link is figis.com

If I remember correctly they usually have a "pre-approved" credit limit in their catalogue.

I hope that helps!

Shirley

It's beginning to get around that time of year when we let our guard down, becuase of holidays, and people get scammed. If there was a "pre-approved" limit, maybe a dumpster diver got ahold of your information and ordered. I would suggest contacting FIGI or the attorney in the letter.

The attorney currently has a satisfactory record with the BBB. You can contact them @ 888-565-8499.

The number for FIGI is 715-387-6311.

Regards-
Mike

Theres a letter going out of the post office today explaining that I have no idea what this is and asking for validation. certified return receipt=) thanks for the info guys. Maybe when/if I get the validation info, it will become more clear to me. If it does happen to be mine, its had to have been so many years that I don't even remember. In their letter, they offered settlement of $70. If it does turn out to be mine, will the settlement offer still remain after valdiation??? They're not on credit report. thanks again for the info!!!! Shirley

update:

I heard from "Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay, P.C."
today.
This is in response to your recent communciation. We have noted your file and will cease further collection activity.
Accordingly, we are closing our tile in the matter and will return this account to our creditor, referenced above [FIGI'S INC.]
Any questions regarding your credit report should be addressed to the creditor, referenced above, as we do not report to the credit bureaus in any form or fashion.
This communication is from a debt collector and is an attempt to collect a debt...blah blah blah
Okay-I did not tell them to 'cease' communication. I told them the same thing I tell everyone else, written correspondence only, no phone calls please.
This Debt is for $102.86
any opinions or takes on this one? thanks shirley

Let them return this account to your creditor. It will be easier dealing with them. Also, collection is a negative remark and it's good that they have left you without reporting in your CR.

Now, your only concern should be to pay this account to your creditors after setting a payment plan with them. Your credit will also improve after this debt is paid off.

Hello, I got a letter from Law Office of Mitchell N. Kay, P.C. and I have never heard of such a place. They say I owe them $294.07 and can't tell me what for. What should I do?
