I haven't heard anything from the Cash Transfer Center in a long time. Can they come after me for more then what the amount of the loan? I live in IOwa. I have never seen an address like they have before. Has anyone sent a money order to them before?

Internet PDL's are illegal in Iowa. Every one of these lenders will harrass you to death, but they can do nothing else.

I thought payday loans were legal in Iowa? Ameriloan sent my debt to a collection ageny. I think they said ARM. I try to avoid the phone calls. So can they do the wage assignment if they are illegal in Iowa? Is it just internet paydays that are illegal?

In Iowa internet payday lenders are not legal, either because of restrictive laws, or because the state does not license companies not located in that state, but requires a state issued license to lend.

You must have a license and a storefront to lend in the state of Iowa. Anyone that lends via the internet is unlicensed and therefore an illegal lender. Don't let them or any collection agency fool you, they cannot legally collect, but you should pay back the principal.

ARM is not a licensed collection agency. Check with your Department of Financial Institutions and double check. Tell ARM they are not licensed to collect and they are trying to collect on an illegal debt.

The problem with CA's in Iowa is that they do not need to be licensed to regisitered unless they collect over $25k in a year. At that point, there is a $10 fee. But we are still back to the point of them collecting an illegal debt.
