I've been semi-optimistic that we'll be able to get back on track while on the phone with our BOA CCs, that is 120 days late.

Did I shoot myself in the foot in regards to a good settlement?

My husband is self employed (and a startup company). I've been saying that I hope this week (or next week) will be a turning point and he'll get paid. We really want a settlement because I don't know how we would afford the hardship program BOA offered (doesn't help us enough).

No, not at all. Being optimistic can be a good thing. :) Personally I have not dealt with BOA but I know a few people who have successfully settled with them and on their own as well. If they don't accept the offer, try to hold out until they do accept it or try to offer something else (what you can afford of course). Time plays a huge role in debt settlement. The older your debt is-the harder it gets to collect. Of course, waiting leaves you open for judgments and lawsuits but if they see you are trying to settle-I don't think they would rush to do that. Just remember that there is always that chance.
