loan modification

That's a tuff one. I don't think you really know. Sometimes the fact that they will even do it without you having to go through an attorney to get it done is a plus.

Why would the mortgage company give you the best modification? They lose money. The less that they lose, the better for them. Now its hard to get the lenders to do anything unless you are represented.

The best way to know if you are getting the best modification is to involve a 3rd party. Don't forget who put you in the loan in the first place!
