All calls recieved lately have been 2x a day, for several days, no message. Then again, answering machine not hooked up yet. Had answering machine off so I could answer any job related calls.

Anyway, information on above number is appreciated. Searches I have tried have all come up empty....
Thanks,

Hi Keith
Welcome to the forums.
Since 847 is the code of Northern Chicago suburbs, I searched and found it out to be arrow financial services.
Arrow Financial Services LLC
5996 W. Touhy Avenue
Niles, IL 6071
Phone: (800) 279-0224
Call them and know the purpose of their call.

!
Thanks for the info.
Calling them is going to be easier said than done.
Dropped long distance phone service after they decided they had to start charging me for it, without warning me, and without my authorization!
Besides, I'm not willoing to talk to those people.
I was screwed by them real bad a while back. Filed falsified claim, without providing any legitimate proof. Long before I knew about this site!!
Have papers from then, showing how much money they stole, and how much they were gonna attempt to steal!
Still want to see if I can take legal actions to recover the stolen money.
Have 2 letters just about ready to go.
One regarding the incorrect name, the other, interestingly, to Arrow Financial, a Validation letter, in reply to the last letter I got from them, dated Nov 23.
Gonna be sending those out by Friday!

Hi Keith
You can hire an attorney and make a claim for refund with all your proof.
Besides, writing letter is always the best and valid mode of communication. You gather enough evidence to prove your part of the story.
Send all your letters through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will help!
Keep in touch

Two letters sent, both CM-RRR. Just a matter of waiting now. When I mailed them out today, I was told about 4 days delivery time. I'm not expecting to hear anything of any sort until after the first of the year.
Again, one letter for an incorrect name, the other requesting validation.
As for filing for a refund, what would be the best way to go about that?? There are several things I can do, with the amount of money I'm owed!
Anyway......Probably my last update for a while. Util I hear back regarding either of the 2 letters sent. If I even hear back.
Happy Holidays everyone!

While you are filing for a refund, talk to your bank regarding this matter. They will verify each of the debits with the company. The company has to give a proper explanation of each of the debits being made. If they fail to give the required info, you will have the money credited back to your account.
Do keep us updated on this matter. We will like to hear from you. Enjoy the coming holidays. Do not spoil them thinking about the present. Take care

Tried to, but unable to post last night.
Problem is, the payments being taken were NOT electronic.
All I got was a signed piece of paper with my weekly paycheck, stating how much money was being stolen.
They never bothered to provide notice either. I found out from secratery were I used to work that a garnishment had been filed. I never recieved anything regarding it. Which should have been 20 days, before employer recieves notice??
The only thing that kept them from stealing anymore than the $1400 they did get, was me walking off the job, for workplace harassment reasons.
Interesting in that they were attempting to steal $2,275 +/- of an $1800 balance. Absolutely no contact by them, before taking illegal?? actions. Have the paperwork they sent, plus slips showing amount stolen. Have nothing more, as I never received anything more.
That's one reason why I'm interested in trying to see if I can take klegal actions against BOTH the company that filed claim, and lawyer who actually filed claim, without verifying anything and providing proof.

Now, you are with us in the community. And with so many people with their vast experiences, I am sure you will never lose directions. You will always be guided towards the right path.
Coming back to you, you need to take some legal counsel because this whole thing took place illegally. You should have received notice about garnishment and that was not sent to you. You also need to check whether the money was sent to your debt account or not. If not, it will add to the charges against them.
Keith, this is completely out of this whole matter. I want to share something with you as well as with others here. It instantly came up in my mind and I wish to put it in words here-
If a person's wages are garnished from his paycheck and due to some reason, he fails to continue his job, the entire process of wage garnishment will come to a stop then and there. The creditor will have to once again file for a wage garnishment only after the person has got a new job. Once done, he will have to pay the balance owed to the creditors.

KcKhan, you definitely need to consult an attorney and also Contact your state attorney general. Depending on what state you live in, most states have their laws on line, so you can research the law pertaining to garnishments your self. If you need help doing this, send me a message through the site, and I will see what I can do for you. Be sure you include what state you live in.

Shelley, do you have the call back number of the company? Ask them to prove that they are contacting the right person. You know your information will not match with theirs. This will force them to stop calling you. Send a cease and desist letter to their mailing address. Once your letter has been received by the company, they are required to stop calling you.
Shelley, you must make sure that you do not have any debt with them for which they are calling. But since it's a mistaken identity, you can make your move strongly.

I continue to recieve calls from a collection agency that claims I owe them a coolection of $320.00 and this is suppose to be from 1998. I do not owe anyone and when they call, I demand they send something with a letterhead or contact information by mail to my mailing address. Nothing recieived by mail so far but the harrassment still continues. Company claims the cell # is 847-647-9526. Do you guys have any advice?

Christopher, get some more information about this account before striking back to the collection agency. As this is about a debt that took place in 1998, you need to know the last date when you paid towards this account. Based on the state laws, every state has a specific statute and the debt cannot be forced to be paid if it is past this period.
Check your credit report and know the date of last activity of this account. If you don't find any specific details, contact the original creditor and get the required information.
The federal laws state that the collection agency should send you the details of the debt in writing after making the initial communication with you. Send a debt validation letter so that they are forced to give you the details of this account. Send your mail certified with return receipt requested so that you can prove your side of the actions taken towards resolving this matter.
You can refuse to pay the account if the debt validation details have not been served to you. Some sample letters are available in this website. Tailor them according to your needs and send it to them through certified mail.
If you get to know that the debt is past the SOL period, you can send them a letter of dispute after the CA has given you the details of the account. Disputing the item is very necessary because you have the legal reasons of not paying the account. However, if you pay the account, your credit will improve. But if you do not way to pay it, no agency can force you to pay it only if the account is past the statutes.

First two letters were sent, CM-RRR on December 18, 2005. As of today, Jan 10, 2006, I have yet to receive any written reply to my requests.
How long does it take to recieve a reply, if in fact I do? If I don't recieve a written reply, what happens next? My next move etc.......A quick check of CR shows nothing.
Planning on sending out next letter, CM-RRR shortly.
As always, any and all help and/or information is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

You have not received the signature card (green slip) after you sent the certified mail to the company. But as you have sent it in the first place, the receipt has the date printed on it. So, you have a proof of your actions made.
Keep the receipt in a safe place. This proves your actions and will be able to defend yourself on any situation in the future.

Green cards arrived about a week and a half later.
Probably took a bit longer than usual, with holidays fast approaching at that point in time.
So, at this point, I know that my letters were recieved.
I also know that they have not been replied to as of today.
Anyway, I'll start working on next letter and get it out ASAP, CM-RRR of course!
Thanks again,

Re: ...Identify the number 1-866-235-7508--Allied Interstate
I got two calls that were a recording of a woman leaving just the phone number on my machine. When I called back they said they were allied interstate and they were looking for the people who had my number before me (they thought the number still belonged to them). My phone number went from them, to unassigned for 8 or 9 months, then to me. For the next 2 and a half years I got calls from an assortment of collection agencies weekly, if not daily.
It's been more than seven years since I have had the number, and I still got these calls. I've had a lot of early morning "unknown name-unknown number" hang-ups for the past month or so, I'm betting they'll stop now that I received these messages and called them back...
Anyone know if I can take action againts the deadbeats these callers are looking for? They still give our number out to their security company, their car repair shop... ugh!
They live about six blocks down the road, and in the first two years I even had angry calls from their siblings/parents--horrible messages in English & Spanish on my answering machine to the point where I used my horrible high-school Spanish to tell folks that this was not the Gerena's number anymore.
Talk to your phone company and see if you will be able to block
Talk to your phone company and see if you will be able to block the unwanted numbers. Once the numbers are blocked, you won't receive any such annoying calls.
Also, you must do some written correspondences with the company so that you have some proof of your actions. Later, you can intend to take legal actions if the calls don't stop. Verbally, the companies have proven that you are not the person they are looking for. If you can get this statement in writing, it will make your proof very strong. You will be in a situation to file your complaints with all the concerned authorities.

Hey, Just wanted to let you know I've received the same type of phone calls twice. The most recent was on Feb. 13th and they called twice also. Not sure about anything else.

Mysterious call from this #
I just came home to a message from 847-241-2030, per caller ID. They said in a very gruff tone that I need to call them back by 8pm. I called and they refused to tell me what the matter was regarding until I provide personal information, such as my mailing address. I refused, saying that unless they tell me the nature of the call, I will not give out any personal details. They stood their ground and refused to tell me what's going on. I know for a fact that I have no debt, so I can't imagine why they are contacting me. Could someone please advise? Thanks.
Problem solved
I was concerned at first that this was a phishing scam. But after reading through some of these posts and giving it some thought I learned that this company is a legitimate bill collector. I called them back, giving minimal personal info and they determined that I am not the person they are looking for.
I would like to thank everyone who posts to this board because researching this site helped me to figure out what to do.
