I'm in Ohio, and I had an internet PDL with Easy Loans for $300 back in 2006. I made 8 $90 debits from my checking account before I found this forum and feel like I've overpaid. I closed my bank account and sent them a letter revoking wage assignment, etc. I also asked for a refund, which I didn't hold my breath for. But I asked them to at the very least mark my account paid in full since Ohio doesn't permit rollovers, and I had paid $720 on this $300 loan. I got no response from my letter, and just last week I received a letter from Elite Financial Service stating that they have a debt for me from Easy Loans, and the balance I owe is $480. I sent a DV letter back to them, and of course, the only thing they provided me in return was the original internet "contract" saying I was given the loan. I then spoke to someone there and told them I'm not denying I once got a loan from them, but that I have paid it back and then some. I could not find any information about Easy Loans having a license in Ohio, etc. I received another call today from Elite Financial, and they said they have provided me all the information they are required to get me, and they say I get no credit for the $720 already paid. The guy just told me that he was going to mark it as a refusal to pay, and it would be reported to my credit, and he would let his client know to proceed with how they wish. How can they report something to my credit that I'm disputing. Can they just ignore my requests? Can they just ignore the fact that Easy Loans isn't licensed in Ohio. Does anyone have any info or experience with Easy Loans or with Elite Financial Service.

I have sent them this letter. My worry is that they are or already have reported it to my credit. Also, what is going to stop the next collection agency from picking it up and me having to go through the same thing again? I thought I was doing everything necessary and if they couldn't prove the original creditor was licensed, etc. that they should have to stop collection efforts. It just sounds like this could go on forever with no way to stop it.
