i am not familar with FL laws, or with this company so i do not know if it is legal or not. :( i know if it is legal, they can pursue legal action - but by than i mean civil action, they cannot take you to jail or anything.
i am sure someone will be along to help you further with your state laws or perhaps someone has advice about this company. for now, do not panic this is fixable. :)

I cannot find them licensed to lend but you can verify with the link above it might also be a good idea to call. I am guessing they are illegal so that makes the collection of the debt illegal. FL requires Deferred Presentment Companies (payday loan companies) to be licensed in the state of Florida.

Good for you. Now you can take the proper steps in dealing with them and their $700 mystery collection. Best of Luck

I also have this company on my butt right now. I borrowed from Paydaymax.com last year, before I found out they were lending illegally in my state. I have paid part of the principal back already, but not all of it.
They called me at work, and I gave them my home number, requested they not call work again. That night, they called my cell phone twice in quick succession but didn't leave a message, so I didn't call back. (Didn't recognize the number until I looked it up online later.) They called my work the next day and demanded that I settle the account immediately, saying it was over $700 due to "fees" being added - but they were quick to offer a settlement of about $368 if I paid it within the month, or $500+ if I wanted to split the payment up over 2 months. What the heck kind of sense does that make?? If they are willing to settle for such a small amount, that tells me that they KNOW their 'fees' are illegal and uncollectible.
They won't be getting anything out of me anyway, because I'm filing bankruptcy - and my attorney has already advised me that he's dealt with these clowns before (his words, not mine), and that they are illegal and won't even respond to any bankruptcy paperwork - because to do so would involve them in a federal case - and would expose them to federal law.
