I had loans with Emerald Marketing, OSL Marketing/TJF, SSM, 500fastcash.com, and mycashnow.com. I paid off what would've been the principal on the loans, but that was money that just went to their "extension fees".

When I found out these loans were illegal in my state of Washington, I took your advice that you've given here. I sent out the letters revoking authorization withdraw from my account.

Emerald Marketing and MyCashNow immediately closed my accounts, no questions asked. The other companies still continued to debit, so I filed claims agains them through my bank, closed our account, and began using our new account.

The other companies are calling nonstop, though. I talked to one debt collector from ACR Collections, and she said, "Well, I don't know if that was an illegal loan, but I'm telling you MY company IS legit, so you need to pay up."

I don't quite know where to go from here. Today, I received an email from Benfield and Associates. I'm assuming it's a law office, but they are telling me to respond, or else....

I find it funny they sent an email instead of a letter. I'm still scared out of my wits and don't know what to do.

Could someone please help me?

Thanks,
Cherry

These guys will do anything to intimidate. How you feel right now is exactly how they want you to feel. They want to get you so scared that you will do anything to get them the money.

Here's the thing. Don't buy into it!!! I'm sure this email didn't come from a law firm. A legit lawyer does not send emails regarding this stuff.

Technically, you've done all your supposed to do. Except, file complaints with the AG in your state. Don't answer the phone when they call. And if you do answer it, just simply state, "your company has received the amount the law says you can receive. I no longer have a debt with. I will be filing a complaint with the AG" After that, hang up. Don't give them a chance to say anything else.

Don't let them push you around.

I had over 20 pdls at one time and I got through it. My phone no longer rings and I don't get any emails or mail regarding this.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
