Anyone dealt with GC Services, Collection Agency Division?
My AmEx account (+/- $12k) was apparently sent to them for collection after 120 days. I googled them and there seems to be a lot of negative feedback on them...

I am actually dealing with them right now. There are a few posts that I started recently because they were harassing me and asking things I felt were not their business. You can look them up to read the threads but basically, they are trying to collect for citi and they are the second CA trying to collect on this debt.

UCB had the debt originally which was 11,000 and they could not validate and eventually sold it to these jerks who first tried to act as if they were the "prelegal" dept for citi. I record all the calls and they are just horrible to deal with. They hiked up the debt from 12,000 to 12,780.00 in a month.

I quickly sent them a validation letter to the office in IL and "voila" no calls! I have my handy dandy recorder set in case they do. They would be in violation!

I would record the calls if I were you.

I too have had dealings with this scum. I DV them with cease phone calls and they would not stop calling. I turned the phone ringer off and counted up the calls on my caller ID. 20 calls in one hour. They will disappear and move on if you have no contact with them and sell the debt to someone else. But they just keep calling for awhile. If you can turn off the phone ringer.

I am dealing with GC services for a defaulted school loan. My time with them was somewhat pleasant, but it's too soon to tell if they are going to hose me or not. I set up a payment plan with them and after a few months, they are suppose to remove the debt from my credit report. Or should I say give me a positive mark on my credit report.

I just reached a settlement with GC Services over a charged off Citibank account. I read horror stories about them but once I spoke with someone rather than not answering the calls, I was able to work out a plan. Initially I was going to do 60% of the total balance in 2 payments however they accepted 40% of the balance if paid in full by a certain due date. The one I worked with was out of Texas I believe.

Yes-I was shocked they accepted the lower amount since that is what I offered over the phone. They said they could only do 60% of the balance so I said it would have to be in 2 payments. I sent them a settlement offer before I contacted them over the phone and then was contacted again regarding the settlement offer-and that is when they said they would accept 40% in full.

Yes everything was in writing-I received it and shockingly they have been decent to deal with. I have heard they are pretty bad but maybe it was because I had a pretty low credit card debt. Maybe I was just lucky too because when I spoke with them on the phone and through the mail correspondence, they were legit and respectful.

They have been calling me too on a Citi disputed charge for merchandise not received. UCB had it and when I told them the charge was in dispute UCB researched the info with me on the telephone apologised and has never called again. Then out of the blue Operations division calls and it's regarding the same disputed charge. First pretended they were with Citibank, called my home, work cell, neighbors etc. When I was finally able to speak with them and told them the charges were in dispute they wanted ME to tell them the circumstances of the dispute. I told them IF they represent CITI as they said they did, then they should have had all that information Citi.
