I have these 2 credit cards (Orchard Mastercard and Household Platnium Mastercard----both HSBC).  I see no hope of ever paying them off because when I pay them $50.00 and $100.00 the balance just keeps going up.  I can't afford to pay the whole balance.  I have been sending them 50.00 on the Orchard and $100.00 on the Household every month and the balance just keeps going up.  That is alot of money (for me) to go for nothing.  I just don't want them to sue me.  My question--If I just send them each $10.00 a month would that be enough to keep them from sueing me?  (I know the balance will keep going up--but I'm never gonna get them paid off any way.)

I am dealing with HSBC and I am not sure if sending the $10 will really do anything except for extending the SOL.?? HSBC is tough they charged me off (after me getting collection notices - and bills! from them and another company). I keep sending debt validation letters to the collectors and they keep going away.
I know they are horrible for adding crazy fees!?? Is there anyway you can talk to them??? Mine got charged off, which is awful for credit but I know I can at least maybe work with a collector (after the validate, of course). I am also scared of being sued. I owe about $1,000.00 on a $300 credit limit.

bea2ls, what is a "charge off"??? I kinda??wish they would send me to a collection agency because I certainly can not work with them.?? I have tried calling and talking to them.?? They just talk in circles.?? They will not?? stop adding??fees.?? How many months do you have to go without paying them before they charge you off???????

I have two that have been chardged off with HSBC, on had a credit limit of 500.00 the balance on it is now 860.00, right before they charged it off, they offered to settle with me for 300.00, I wish I had had the money at that time I would have took it. The other one had a 1000.00 limit and now the balance is 1430.00, they also offered to settle on it for 700.00 back when the balance was around 1100.00, they said the 700.00 would have been exactly what I owed they knocked off all fees and interest, once again if I had only had the money to do. So with that said you may just let them go for a little while and 120 day to 150 days late they might make you a good offer to settle, because at 180 days they charge off. Just my thought my not be right for you.

I also wanted to add, that what I said above may not be right thing for you to do, just my two cents worth. Just knowing what I have been through and what was offered to me may not turn out the same for you. From my own experience with all this, the CC companies will usually start working with you once your behind. I tried working with them all from the very start before I got behind. One company even told to contact a consumer credti counceling, then in the end they are the ones that work with me the best, they put me on a hardship program for 12 months, 5.9% interest $13 min. payment. Its really hard to say what to do, I still don't know what to do about some of mine. I come on here and read to see what other people have done. I hope all works out well for you.
