I have a medical debt that I have tried to settle once, and now have recieved a letter from the law office of joe pezzuto in Minnesota. The amount that I owed was $3100 in Nov of 2008 and now I get a letter stating I need to pay $4700, I'm not sure where this extra $1600 came from. Do I contact them for a detail of the billing, contact them by mail or call after hours to leave a message? I have read previous entries about this firm and how rude they can be. I only want to pay this (what I actually owe) or reach a settlement agreement amount and be done with it. I would really like to avoid talking to someone who feels it is thier job to rude and threatening to someone who is willing to pay back their debt
any and all advice is welcome and thanks in advance

I think that this extra amount includes the late fees and the interest charges. You can simply send them a debt validation letter by certified mail and wait for their response. Unless they validate your debt, they cannot collect it.
