Hello,
In these trying times, the FTC is on the warpath to defend us, the consumers. They have unveiled a new site specifically for consumers with Debt problems. "Money Matters" has a section for Scams, how to deal with your mounting debt problems, and stronger warnings about debt repair and debt reduction (settlement) companies. They have already successfully prosecuted over a dozen of these DS firms, and on the page Dealing With Debt Relief Services they update us on how the FTC continues to fight for us. Plus a host of other wonderful and empowering information!
Also, they continue to appear before Congress to upgrade the laws, including regulation of the Debt Repair industry (of which there is now very little). FTC Tells Congress Changes in Law and More Resources Would Enhance the Agency’s Consumer Protection Efforts in Financial Services Markets is their latest report before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government of the Committee on Appropriations.
Remember, if you feel you have been ripped off, FILE THOSE COMPLAINTS WITH THE FTC!!
Thank you for reading,
chrys
P.S. I'm using these dots to trick this not-quite-yet-functional edit box into making a space between paragraphs. Spellcheck doesn't work in it, unless you click on "Toggle WYSIWYG". BUT if you are typing a post and then you switch over, edit and correct the spelling, and then click "Preview" (I always preview before I post) it will totally ignore any changes you did after you switched. So far I rate this new box a thumbs down, but I am sure it will be up to par very soon.

Yep!......great news to us all!! I've read alittle of it so far (already I'm impressed!!). Looking forward to really 'getting into it.' Thanks for the information.
