Hi all. I have a question...When I started college I opened a credit card with MBNA and like a stupid college kid I ran up the bill. I tried to pay on time but couldn't handle it and walked away from it. My credit report says it charged off in 2004 and I have a collection agency that bought it and is giving me fits about paying it. First, does the Texas SOL apply here? What can I do? When can I hope for things to change for the better?

According the the Texas SOL: The SoL begins after the day the cause of action accrues. In Texas the SOL is 4 years, if it was charged off in 2004 I would think it would be past the SOL. It's well over four years now. My understanding was the SOL begins the last time there was activity on the account made by the debtor. Keep checking back for more replies, I'm not possitive about that.
