I know I have posted on here before about Legal Processing, U.S. National Bank and that whole same group of crummy collectors. I also know I sound like a nervous wreck and that is because, even after a few months, I still am a nervous wreck. I try to ignore them but their calls are coming more frequently now. I know I do not owe them anything. They called my house 5 times today. I did not answer and they did not leave a message. This has been going on for months. Has anyone had it go on for this long before? I am up to about six months now. It seems like if I have been ignoring them, they would go away by now. My daughter did make the mistake of answering the phone and handing it to me one night this week when they called.

I know I sound like a nervous wreck and that is because I am. They will not stop. I cannot take much more. Has anyone else had it go on or six months?

I can't say I blame you for feeling so nervous about this. Those thugs have a way of intimidating the crap out of people. Have you reported them to your phone service provider? You really REALLY need to do that, you also need to fill out a police report, this is just wrong! If it were me, I would get my phone number changed, I know it's a pain but if you explain to your phone service provider what is happening and how often, I am willing to bet they would change your number free of charge. They did for me, a few years ago.

I have thought of changing my number but I am currently looking for a job and this number has been given to a lot of potential employers.

Does it truly really help to do a police report? I read about people doing that but will it really help?

I have tried so hard to ignore them but I am losing it ...

they no longer call everyday but they pop up every couple of months.. i filed for the FBI with a link someone here posted, i have to find it again :( but it was on their webpage
i am sure you can also call the FBI.. i just filed a police report, even with my idenity theft case, the police did not do anything but file a report, it's mostly proof that there has been a problem, i guess
i do not think these things slowed down the calls.. i think it was more of me not giving in that really slowed them.

how long did the calls go on? It has been going on with me off and on for six months. Lately, they are calling every day several times per day but do not always leave a message. My daughter made the mistake of answering the phone one night last week and just handing me the phone so they ended up getting me live after I had ignored them for weeks. How did you finally get them to quit calling everyday?

i do not know why they stopped everyday, i did not pick up any phone with caller ID, they only reached me at work and yelling at them, etc. will not work. there is a huge language barrier he would threaten to send the sheriffs to my job and i would tell the moron that i work for the sheriffs and they are already here.. one day my supervisor broke it down for him.. that he is calling the police office, in a courthouse. that might have made him stop but i doubt it.. it was most likely him giving up and moving on. my first call was in either july or august so its been awhile

I don't know if they are trying to collect on a legitimate debt but if they are..you need to let the account get as old as possible. The older the account the less amount they are willing to settle for. Best thing to do is to wait as long as you can, settle the debt for as little as possible, and go on with your life. People are dying from earthquakes...having to pay off a little debt is nothing to that. Gotta put things in perspective in times like this...

I turn off the ringers on my phone and check the caller id once a day. If they want to leave a message, I delete it as soon as they start talking. If you let them know it bothers you, they will just keep doing it because thats what they intend to do. Most people pay to stop them from calling which only rewards their behavior so they keep doing it!

The thing is the calls have never really stopped. However, they were down to about once a month. Now it is several times per day. I am not sure why it is picking up again. I am looking for a job so hate to change my number as prospective employers already have this number. It seems like all of a sudden the past month they have really picked up like I said to calling several times per day.

i'm guessing, and it's just a guess.i think they are calling again because it's tax time.they think with refunds coming they can still get something.i would if you need to keep your number for now.just screen your calls.if it doesn't look familiar don't answer.keep the number of your prospective employers handy so you know it's them.the key is to not even talk to these humanoids.

that's nice guest, but this is a scam run from INDIA that bought a slew of people's info from pdl's so they won't obey the law.i still advise hanging up in the earhole.

not really, occasionally like every 2 months i get an unkown call, but i never answer it.i would be leary of other scams too.a lot of them revolve around home loan modifications.if they didn't go to VM i wouldn't worry too much.

We have a telephone over internet service. It's a prepaid service so we didn't need credit to get it. It provides a web site with up to 30 "Call Treatments". I just keep adding the bill collectors to that list and clicking either "send to voice mail" or "busy" and they are handled. For a few days then they call on another number and I need to add that number to the list. But it is a good way to handle things instead of listening to the ringing or risking my son answering.

Here's what I did: kept the landline off the hook. I have a low-cost Tracfone pre-paid cell phone, and I give that number to people I want to talk to.

Now that the volume of collection calls has died down, I keep the landline in service but with Caller ID, and I only answer if I know the caller.

I received a phone call from U.S. National Bank telling me that i owed money. I told him to send me something in writing regarding the debt showing me. He told me to check my bank account from 2007. he couldn't even tell me the name of my bank. I asked him to give me the address and he wouldn't so I hung up and called again. Someone gave me an address and when I wne to put the zip code in the fed ex, fed ex said it was wrong so I called again and asked for the correct address. He then gave me another address. I sent the federal express, etc. to him at the address he provided and fed ex returned it saying that there was no such business or address in the city he gave me. I tried to call back and the number was disconnected. Didn't hear from him for a month, so when he called again, I called back and he said that the old number was not an extension that was in use all the time. I told him I tried to send him a package and what federal express told me and told him I had the original fed ex with the federal expresses certification that he gave me incorrect information, he got flustered and hung up on me and I never heard from him again. It was difficult to communicate because he had a very heavy indian accent. he told me that he was going to file an affidavit. BTW, if they are filing a complaint, then maybe you should take a little more serious, but an affidavit does not get anything started with the court system. I told him he may want to read the FL Rules of Civil Procedure and/or FL Rules of Criminal Procedure before threatening something that he didn't know what he was talking about. He hung up and two years later, nothing has been heard from him.
