chaka

dont do anything. I know it sounds dumb, but i have heard of many people on this forum that pay, and then the credit card company goes back on thier word about the settlement. Do not send them a dime till they put it in writing. Tell them you will not send them a payment till they do so. They eventually will, but you dont want to agree to something and then they say you owe the hole balance and you have no proof.

I agree, i know you want this over with but it might not end if you do pay them, they might tack on more fees, etc. i understand about wanting them gone, lol i want them out of my life, too ;)
but sadly i think it's best to wait.. push them for a written settlement, most places will gladly do it if it means you will settle.

Call HSBC and tell them that you have a cashier???s check waiting for them. Tell them that once you get the agreement in writing and you both agree to it, that you will send them the check.
I have found out that once they know you are ready to pay they will get you the agreement in writing. Whatever you do NOT pay them anything until you have it in writing and do NOT accept an agreement via fax or email, ONLY accept an agreement typed up on their letterhead and signed by the person authorized to make agreements.
