Allied Interstate - Not worried but must read
Date: Tue, 04/07/2009 - 12:36
Today I receive a call from Allied Interstate looking for the person who's credit account was merged with mine. I explain I am named Ryan C and the person they are looking for is named Bryan D. Karr.
The lady explains it is my debt or they would not have the phone number after I explained my situation. She then goes, "You mean your social security number is not 238-XX-XX63?" and I say, "can you repeat that" and she does.
So Allied Interstate calls random people and gives full names and social security numbers to them? To me this is scary as I was once upon a time on their list. Did they give my social security number out at the time? Should I contact Bryan D. Karr to let him know what they are doing? I believe I have his contact info from the Experian Credit Report?
This is absolutely disturbing.......

If anyone cares, I did file a complaint with the consumer advocacy group at Allied Interstate (something tells me this will not go far though). Was able to verify the name, address, and social security number on the debtors account. I need to know who else I can submit this complaint to. Being debt free for the first time in 5 years makes me want to fight for the rights of those under debt and being treated unfairly. It was scary enough for me and without the stress of it happening to me I am care free to express complaints on bad companies ;).
Is allied interstate part of ACA International? I Didn't look. B
Is allied interstate part of ACA International? I Didn't look. But unless you recorded that call, chances are Allied Interstate is just going to come back and say "no we didn't give any information out".
Well the fact I have the guys social security number and address
Well the fact I have the guys social security number and address is pretty good proof in itself I would hope?
That might be.. and btw I did find several listings for Allied I
That might be.. and btw I did find several listings for Allied Interstate in ACA acainternational.org/MemberDirectory.aspx
If you file a complaint against them, I would leave out the fact that your accounts got merged with Experian since it seems to be straightened out on Experian's side. Just let them know that you received a collection call for someone else and when you explained to the rep (give the phone number that they called from and the rep's name) that it wasn't you they proceeded to still ask if this was " Insert name.. and they gave you his ssn number"
Cool stuff, will definitely file all complaints I have. I have
Cool stuff, will definitely file all complaints I have. I have nothing to do with this situation besides being wrongly called but the fact the info was given out is just disturbing....
