Help! Is there a way out? I had a fcnb credit card with a credit limit of 300. On a limited budget, I made minimum payments. At some point the finance charge put it over the limit, so then they added monthly over the limit fees. My payment has gone from $30 to closed to $80 with no end in sight. The balance is now at $3,000. I missed one payment a year ago so about once a month I get a call at work from someone at Platinum Recovery Systems. Since that one missed payment, I make a payment every month, so I don't understand why they call so much. Yesterday the woman was rude, obnoxious and hostile. She said I was 2 payments behind which is not true since the payment is due til the 14th. I see no end to this. I don't have the money to pay it off. There is something criminal about all of these constant over the limit and late fees. I feel like even when I am making payments that I am throwing my money away. I cannot deal with fcnb directly as they went bankrupt years ago. Is there any help? My other credit cards are $750 and below with no problems. This one is making me lose sleep!

As far as I know I am not paying Platinum Recovery Sytems. FCNB went bankrupt several years ago and now payments go to something called Cardmemberservices.net. I have never made a payment directly to Platinum--however I do go online and pay by check to the cardmemberservices. I feel like I have paid above and beyond the 300 I originally charged. I have been paying for at least ten years and I am tired. All I am paying now is over the limit charges, late fees and finance charges. There has got to be a way out! Please help.

This means that you are paying the debt every month to Cardmemberservices.net for the past 10 years on a debt of $300 and still now the outstanding debt is $3000 (finance charges and late fees). How is this possible?
Do you have the bank statements to prove that you have made the payments to Cardmemberservices.net?

Correction: it's possibly closer to 8 years than 10. I don't see how it's possible either. I do know for a while there, I was making the minimum payment of $35 and they wanted the late fee at the same time and I didn't have it. I don't know if I have bank records of not. I do have statments from Dec. 02-Mar 09 showing my payments and the charges.
