Thanks for all of the great advice on this board! I would like to negotiate settlements with 7 payday lenders and am quite nervous about it. I could use encouragement from people who have successfully negotiated with them in the past. Here are the lenders:

VIP Loan Shop, borrowed 500 (+150 interest); paid 75
Outback Bucks (Red River), borrowed 300 (+90 interest); paid 360
Kenwood Services, borrowed 350 (+105 interest); paid 525
E-Payday, borrowed 350 (+105 interest); paid 210
One Click Cash, borrowed 500 (+150 interest); paid 350
Payday Services, borrowed 1000 (+250 interest); paid 2000
Bahamas marketing Group, borrowed 300 (+90 interest); paid 0

I'm in Maryland, so I know there are all illegal. What are my chances of having my payments to date credited to my remaining balances?

Thanks so much!!

The chances are very slim that they will comply on the first time around. Being that majority of your lenders are Illegal they have no choice in the end. I would send them my proposal letters ensuring you want all fees credited to your principal balance. Send them every week if you have too, persistence pays off

Here is a sample letter.

Since all of your loans illegal because they are prohibited in MD they don't have a leg to stand on and you only owe them what you borrowed.

They can not do anything to you and you need to make it clear that you are not going to pay one red cent over the principle on the loan. They can take it or get nothing.

Stand your ground :)
