My husband and I need some serious help. I've been reading some of these posts, so I'll share our situation with you. All our payday loans are store front loans. We are in Iowa. We feel bad/guilty if we can't pay because we truly like the people we loan from. Here's what we have:

Check King-DH owes $500 2 weeks from today, I owe $500 today

Check into Cash-DH owes $338.XX today

Hometown Cash Advance-I owe $500 today

Check N Go-I owe about $200 today

I intend on paying my Check King today, but not paying the other 3 today because we just don't have enough money. I'll need to reloan the Check King just to have enough money to live on until our next payday where we will hopefully have enough money to pay off the 2 Check Kings.

Can we just not pay and request to make a payment arrangement with them? What will happen to my bank account? I know Check into Cash and Hometown Cash Advance will go to my bank in person to cash the checks and I won't be charged an NSF by my bank, but the other will probably go thru the bank system and I'll get the NSF. What can I ask my bank to do to prevent them from getting the money when we get paid in 2 weeks and there is some cash in there? Please help. What else am I not thinking of? All advice appreciated.

With check into cash and Check n go you can request and EPP, extended payment program.

The can split the loans into four equal payments over four paydays.

You must request the EPP before you default.

In most cases they do not require the first payment right then but will wait for your next payday.

The other two companies may offer this as well. I would ask.

Unfortunatelly you may not be eligible for an extended payment plan on the loans due today. Simply because an EPP needs to be requested a day in advance to the loan due date. You may be able to work out some sort of deffered payment arrangement with the branch managers themselves.

The checks will be presented against your account if you cannot pay in full. I suggest you put a stop payment on the checks so you can avoid NSF fees.
