I had a credit card a few years ago and defaulted on it do to a accidentand health related issues, now that i am better i am trying to tighten up loose ends. The card was through Household Bank/HSBC Bank. I called them as my report shows Charge off and it was purchased by another lender. They told me it is in the hands of Bankcard Services. Well upon researching I'm finding little about them and I'm getting frustrated.
I recieve 2 Coll. notices from Protocol Recovery Service which said the client was Worldwide Asset Purchasing. Didn't find much good about those 2. I see WAP was bought by West Corp or West Asset Purchasing is this Bankcard name a dba to this group and whats there story.
Seems all these coll co. are nothing but thieves.
Any and all info will be greatly appreiciated
Thank you Wildwoodsmen

If you have already received collection notice from Protocol Recovery, you should send a debt validation letter within 30 days from the date you received the debt validation letter, else the debt would be considered valid. Until they validate the debt, they cannot collect it.
If you want to contact Bankcard Services, you may contact them at 1.888.339.0100

Hi Wildwoodsmen,
According to their website, they are "a registerered [sic] TPS, ISO and MSP of HSBC Bank, National Association, Buffalo, NY and Merrick Bank Corporation, a Utah industrial bank". They are located in Los Angeles. TPS is Transaction Processing System. ISO is Infrared Space Observatory. No wait, I meant Independent Sales Organization, and MSP is Member Service Provider.
I take it you have a recent copy of your credit report? If not, go to "www.annualcreditreport.com" and get your free yearly copy of all 3 major bureaus' reports. The current owner of the debt (and their contact info) will be listed thereon.
If you haven't already, you should peruse our Do-It-Yourself section on Debt Settlement. Also, the Federal Trade Commission's Money Matters has a page called "Dealing With Debt" which will give you even more info.
Good luck, and keep us posted! If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to ask!
It's actually West Asset Management, and they are in the process of being sued for FDCPA violations. And WOW, there are a lot of suits against them - they have been nearly constantly sued for FDCPA violations since 2005.
